He Thinks He Saves Her
01:57
|
|||
The white knight rides again,
Alone he fights this fight
Out to win his damsel fair,
So helpless in his mind
The white knight rides again,
His valor he must prove
She's trapped on a pedestal
She has no room to move
He's bested by his rivals
Who flout his knightly rules
The village elders tell him
He fights the fight of fools
But they don't know the blood he spilt
Or mountains that he climbs
One thing keeps eluding him:
He lives in modern times
He thinks he saves her
But little does he understand
The white knight rides again,
His valor he must prove
She's trapped on a pedestal
She has no room to move
But they don't know the blood he spilt
Or mountains that he climbs
One thing keeps eluding him:
He lives in modern times

Three reporters on the scene
Writing for the wires, newspapers and magazines
Two checking facts, and one brandishing the axe
For a hit job that was ordered from on high
Twelve old men on the board
Decide which meddlers will be quietly destroyed
Sometimes the job is not so clean
So they call in the big machine
To manufacture mass hysteria,
Panic, and outrage
You can ignore that drone,
But then you're on your own.
Oh, how they scandalize
When you call out their lies.
When the legend becomes the truth, print the legend.
When the legend becomes the truth, print the legend.
They drill that mantra in your head...print the legend.
And you'll believe the legend soon enough yourself...

Class War (Powerless)
03:29
|
|||
Feeling powerless
Just don't make no sense
With all the things I've done,
I'm worth more than this
We cast our votes with dollar bills
And if you care to vote,
You'll have it your own way
There's something wrong
What's going on?
I'm powerless
I'm sick of this
Work for no reward
Reminded that you're poor
Live beyond your means
Eating rice and beans
Gentrified people flashing down the street
The wind begins to blow
And you're the one who flies away
There's something wrong
What's going on?
I'm powerless
I'm sick of this
Frustration doesn't change a thing
Your voice is meaningless
Your actions are all that you have
There's something wrong
What's going on?
I'm powerless
I'm sick of this

Ghost
03:50
|
|||
So easy for her
To get under my skin.
So easy for her
To wear my nerves thin.
I want to make your ghost forget me.
I keep trying, but she'll never let me.
She never seems
To consider my needs.
Always thinking of herself,
While my heart bleeds.
I want to make your ghost forget me.
I keep trying, but she'll never let me.
It's not about her.
It's all about me.
I'm feeling suffocated,
And I think it's time she set me free.
I want to make your ghost forget me.
I keep trying, but she'll never let me.

So Many Words
03:59
|
|||
Instead of protection,
Here's a cop raid.
Instead of enlightenment,
Here's a fanatic tirade.
Instead of culture,
Here's a shopping mall.
Instead of comraderie,
Here's a high school hall
So many words
That promise satisfaction
So why are we disappointed?
Instead of freedom,
Here's the system.
Instead of the meaning of life,
Here's religion.
Instead of loving arms,
Here's a deadbeat dad.
Instead of everything,
Here's all you've never had.
So many words
That promise satisfaction
So why are we disappointed?
This perfect world they tell us to aspire to
Is just a big lie
Instead of fulfillment,
Here's a dirty high.
Instead of a future,
Here you're getting by.
Instead of a soul mate,
Here's a big fat whore
Because maybe you just don't know
Who you are anymore
So many words
That promise satisfaction
So why are we disappointed?
And if you take offense to how I act jaded,
Well,
Just deal with it.

Moment
03:16
|
|||
Growing old
Waiting for a moment
That's just not coming back
It sucks you're not around
Days are that much longer now
Your absence brings me down
Things just couldn't be the same,
But that's the cross I've gotta bear.
It sucks you're not around
Days are that much longer now
Your absence brings me down

This is basically an instrumental track. Just kick back, relax, and think of the vocals as just another instrument.

The Stranger Louisville, Kentucky
This project originally began as a flood of songs I wrote in the mid-Aughts. That was soon followed by experimentation with
guitar tunings, out-there fuzzboxes, &c. I decided to put some drums to this and make it a duo, and The Disclosure was born... and then The Disclosure changed its name to The Stranger, thanks to that other band Disclosure loved by Pitchfork (good for them).
Enjoy the rock.
